He has lost to many superheros many times.
In the movie he lost to Batman and later to Doomsday.
In comics he has lost to may charecters such as wonder woman,Captain America and many more.
And there are many superheros who have the powers to beat him.
While the General arguments claims the popular superheos like Thor,Iron man and even Goku but there are lot less popular yet so powerful that they can take on superman without having to think twice and might beat him

Hawk man is from a planet called Thanagar. His Wings and his Mace is made of an unknown material Ninth Metal. His mace was forged by Khufu who was a Prince in ancient Egypt and the mace draws it's powers from earth's magnatic core.

In the comic storyline "Superman/Batman:Public Enemies"
Lex Luthor becomes the president and framed superman as a great threat for Human beings so a team of superheros which Hawkman was part of was sent to bring him in and Hawk man beat him with the mace with the power of the whole planet.

(2) THE SPECTRE
Jim Corrigan a hardboiled Police detective who soon was planning to announce his engagement.
One day gets a tip about a warehouse robbery so he decides to stop it and succeeds but the robbers who were seeking revange killed him by putting him in a barrel and filling it with a cement.
in the after life he was confronted by someone who didn't had any physical form and called himself The Voice .
The Voice told him that he can go back to earth to take his revange .
Filled with anger and revenge Jim quickly accepted this offer and was send back to earth in order to punish the Guilty but after taking his revange he doesn't choose to live in the afterlife but decides to walk the earth forever and punish the Guilty.
The spectre is massively powerful and if he fights superman ever he has a good chance of killing him considering he is immortal.
And not just that he also has super powers like space and time manipulation,cosmic awareness and matter control.

It's hard to tell how powerful is Santry given his powers aren't completely described yet and his origin story is quite confusing too.

He can shoot energy fields and one of his main superpower is the power to control minds and make a person lose all his memories which gives him an edge on superman.
Although it has been clear in the comics that his powers are limitless and it also has been stated that he has the power of 1000 EXPLODING SUNS.
He is so powerful that loki has to sacrifice himself in order to stop him.

Molecule man is actually more of a villain than hero although in some stories he has been portrayed as a hero.
Truth to be told he is one of the beings who just want to live a normal life and when they have to fight they'd only fight for themselves without caring if he is the hero or a villain.
He is one of the most powerful beings in marvel universe. He has the phenomenal ability to control all the matter on a molecular level. he can use this powers to mold matter and disrupt matter into liquid,solid or gas. He can fly and has the intelligence to control complex machines. he has used his power of creating hyper-space portal to warp reality on a multi verse scale.
and even after these superpowers it is still a mystery on how powerful he would be if he reaches his full potential.
The only avenger who he is afraid of is the senetry.
He claims that he would've killed avengers long ago if senetry wasn't in it to stop him.

You might be wondering where is this superhero from DC or MARVEL?
well the answer is neither.
He is actually an indian superhero from the publication house of Raj Comics.
He is probably the most powerful and most popular indian superhero and his abilities are definitely powerful enough to take on superman.
He has the ability to control snakes or Nagas and he can also keep them inside his body and resales them when he wants to use them plus some of These snakes have their own superpowers like spitting venom and Turning into humans.
His blood is pure venom and he can spit venom like a snake on his enemies and his venom is so poisonous that it could
kill any human being in less than a second.
He is such powerful being that he has faught battles by just sending his snakes to fight and won them.
(6) CAPTAIN ATOM
Allen Adam got his superpowers when he was accidentally launched in a rocket with him trapped inside and when the rocket was exploded he was atomized and somehow due to unknown reasons he was able to reform himself on the ground and realizing he had gained the superpower of atom manipulation He became CAPTAIN ATOM.

That's right due to this experiment Mitch shelly wasn't able to die permanently.
Actually he can still die but his death would only last few seconds as he would come back to life again and everytime he comes back he grained a diffrent kind of superpower which would be able to protect him from the last cause of his death. these superpower can be anything such as changing the colour of his skin to turning into a hulk like monster.
Now truth to be told killing a being like him would be hard for anyone not just superma.
The only way some on can beat him would be if they take away his superpower of immortality or find a way to trick him or something.
